A forest of possibilities
Sharp and pointed as thoughts
That lurk just beneath
The smooth veneer in lots
Paved by the ragged tires
Of broken down cars
And crowned by a memory
Of what might have been

A thoughtful and well written Magpie!!!
Paved by the ragged tires
Of broken down cars Loved this!
I loved the opening two lines, because that's just what pencils are. Well written.
Lurking beneath the veneer of life...well done.
thoughtful poem-I like it!
Love all the imagery..."a forest of possibilities" is awesome! :-)
Delightful!!
I love that bit about the smooth veneer!
sharp and pointed as thoughts,
Thats a great metaphor!
You know, I often wonder about the what might have been. Lovely work.
I love the same line as Willow. How veneer makes up the pencil, too!
very nice...so many possibilities waiting in the lead...great magpie!
nicely done!
Love your opening metaphor, and the plaintive finish: "crowned by a memory of what might have been."
Great magpie! Though it's a short poem, it's packed with great lines. Loved the flow of it, it's a bit haunting.
