The Best Laid Plans...

plan [n1] scheme, design, way of doing things        -Roget's 21st Century Thesaurus in Dictionary Form

"I have no plans and no plans to plan."     -Mario Cuomo

"I've never been able to plan my life.  I just lurch from indecision to indecision."    -Alan Rickman

A week ago last Friday, I had an opportunity.  I was invited to the wine and cheese schmoozefest that accompanies the gallery openings at the Overture Center in Madison, Wisconsin.  I planned to go.

"If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans."     -Woody Allen

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."   -John Lennon

I have two (count 'em, two!) pieces hanging in Gallery 2 that are part of the show that accompanies the play, "1000 Words."  (Click here for a link to the show.)  The reception was on (dum dum DUUUMMMM) Friday the thirteenth.  I planned to go.  I wish I had gone.

"It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan."  -Eleanor Roosevelt

But I forgot.  By Friday, I was exhausted and became part of the couch immediately following dinner.

"A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week."  George S. Patton

So I went to the gallery on the Sunday following and took these pictures.  They did a really nice job of hanging our fiber art with the photos.  I think that the ladies room sign was an interesting choice.

"It is a bad plan that admits of no modification."      -Publilius Syrus

This was taken at the third floor gallery -- my kind of doorstop.  Although it begs the question: what happened to the other one?

"We can't plan life.  All we can do is be available for it."    -Lauryn Hill

I planned to post this right after I took the photos.  Almost two weeks ago.  Oh well -- better late than never.

Karen, great post. Love the Alan Rickman quote. And also love how your work looks hanging in this space. As for the shoe, perhaps it belongs to the Australian prime minister?

your commentors are funny;-) it looks to me like you have been quite busy since I haven't been by lately and am playing catch up. I like your chair quilt and the child quilt and your taupe selection.

Sorry you missed the opening...while the events can be exciting ( and exhausting) I always go back and take in a show when the crowds are gone, when you can really take in each piece and reflect on what the artist had to say.

Great post! made me smile!

Love the way the black and white (or is it sepia? can't remember) turned out! The contrast worked out very well for you--better than it seemed up close, really, unless you made some changes since you had it at Millhouse. Both pieces are wonderful and the whole presentation is well done.

I'm so glad you posted this. I posted on the mini quilts - which were on a different floor. Then when we went to see the play I saw the rest - but I had no camera. Glad you did! Congrats on being in the show. :)
