January Bead Journal Project Revealed

"Snow Shoe"

Fabric covered Peltex, with Swarovski crystals and beads

I wanted to totally encrust the shape with beads, but that hasn't happened yet. If it does, I will post another picture then.

This is my January journal entry for the Bead Journal Project (BJP), an opportunity to develop and grow as an artist by creating one beaded piece each month for a year. There are no BJP police to make sure that I finish my pieces each month -- I am on my own to conceive an idea and follow it through; but I have support and encouragement from the entire membership of the Project.

Very creative and so whimsical! Encrusting a piece is so time-intensive. Although most of us like the encrusted look, it's more beading than I can do. I find I can work on my pieces for about an hour before I start feeling my neck and eyes are in need of a break. This is adorable!

I *love* it! What style! What panache! I understand about the encrusting, too. I always want to do that, but the reality of life sets in and I realize that that may be for a different time in my life. (Retirement.) You've done a beautiful job, though.

What a beautiful shoe! I like the idea of beading a shoe made with fabric. Bravo for your creativity. I find it very elegant even if it's only partially encrusted.

Oh my goodness!!! I've always thought about doing a shoe shape... I'm so glad you've done it!!! Bravo! And "Snow Shoe" is delightful, playful, fun for me, because of course, when I think of snow, I think of big, heavy, stupid-looking boots. Now we have a fairy slipper for the snow! Yay!!!

ROTFL! I haven't started my BJP pieces yet, but I was going to do this same exact shape! Funny, when I did a google search for high heels, I came across A great site for shoes and spent hours there (well, a long time, anyway LOL)... I never did get back to the original purpose of my search! :D

Love the shoe idea. It would be perfect fit for the Snow Queen I just made for January. :)

Peltex and swarovski's! Cant go wrong there! My favorites! Kind of a Doc Martin girl here, but there is a cinderella page coming up this year for me. That's what this reminds me of! Is the shoe stitched to the black background or is it loose? I think of a shoe divider thingy that hangs on the closet door, with pockets for the fancy footwear, decorated with your fanciful ones!

LOL! That's the prettiest show show I've ever seen!

I'm with you on the encrusting issue. Want to, just doesn't seeem to happen. Yet.

What a totally creative and beautiful idea, wish I thought of it! It is wonderful just the way it is, though if you decide to continue and encrust it with more beads I'm sure it will continue to look just as fabulous!
