I Have a Cookie for You...

Last week's Creative Cue was "cookie."  It immediately brought to mind a story about my younger son.  When he was about 6 or 7, we were at the kiddie pool watching his little sister splash around.  There was a little girl who was maybe 4 or 5 who kept cajoling my son to come and play with her.  She showed him all the toys she had lined up on the edge of the pool, but he wasn't interested.
Finally, she summoned up her best gamine smile and with her most playfully mischievous voice said, "I have a cookie for you."
I nearly fell off the chair laughing.  My son was not tempted.  But now, whenever one of us is trying to induce another to do something, we say, "I have a cookie for you."

Doesn't it just make you wonder.... about the 'little girls family dynamic'.... A little bribery as incentive....

Cute story.

That is too funny. It is so great to have family stories like this that get passed down through the years. And personally, I think bribery should just be another tool in the parental toolbox. After all, we all need a little coaxing sometimes!

My boys are all grown up and they'll still do almost anything if there are brownies involved. What a cute story!
