Bloggers Quilt Festival!

My entry for the Fall 2010 Blogger's Quilt Festival is Flora!

"Flora Checks In"
24" x 24"

I made this for a challenge using this fabric.  This is so not my style that it truly was challenging.  I used it for the ears and cut out individual flowers for fusing.

Flora's face is all turned edge appliqué.  I created a pattern from a photo of a cow that I took last summer.  The ears were covered with thread after appliqué and before layering and quilting so that they would stand out from the background.

The background was hand-dyed especially for this -- I was going for a field and sky look.

Design Wall Monday - She's Up!

Yeah!  I got all the freezer paper backing off without destroying my work.  She's stuck to the background I hand-dyed for her.  I'd tell how I did it, but I'm not really sure -- I think it's a miracle...

Next up: thread work.

Design Wall Monday - Potential

This is on my design wall today.

The blocks that I've been working on for my piecing group and the background that I dyed for the challenge.  Yes, that's right, there are no new blocks since the last time I posted about them.  That's because I've been working on this:
I used some of the challenge fabric to make the right ear and I will use some more to do the other ear.  I'm getting close to finishing her -- I'm excited to see what she's going to look like on the background I dyed especially for her.  I was going for a field and sky look.

And I've been working on quilting the tiger quilt.   I have finished quilting three of the sampler blocks and done some of three more.  No photos of that today.  Probably not until it's finished.  To see what others are doing click here.

Don't You Just Love

starting a new project?

I love this face!

I have a challenge in which I must use this fabric:

I have pulled these fabrics from my stash:

And I have a roadmap:

Time to get mooing (whoops -- sorry, I just couldn't resist).  More later.
